About Rabbit Dachshunds
Dicanta Dachshunds is the first and currently only registered breeder of true rabbit (kaninchen) long haired dachshunds in Australia.
Rabbit (Translated from the German word for rabbit, "Kaninchen") dachshunds were only recognised as a breed in Australia in 2020, but have been accepted in Europe and Asian countries for many years. They are the smallest variety of Dachshund, smaller than a miniature.
These beautiful, small dachshund is defined as a Rabbit by their chest circumference measurement at 15 months of age. Females chest circumference is 25-30cm, and males is 27-32cm.
Because they are smaller in chest size than their miniature counterparts, they tend to weight less, but this is not always the case!
Rabbit Dachshunds are still fiesty, vivacious love bugs who enjoy digging holes, playing chasey, and expect unlimited attention and love.
